PART I
Remove battery and turn on the PC.
Open Device Manager
Uninstall “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery”.
Shutdown (do not restart).
Unplug power.
Put battery back in
Start PC, should start charging.
Charge back up to 100%. (Let battery cool to room tempature before charging)
Drain battery to 0%.
Repeat (charge/discharge) 4 times.
PART II (Note that you should only perform this on NiCD or NiMH batteries.)
Remove battery and turn on the PC.
Wrap with towel.
Put in plastic bag.
Put in freezer.
Wait 12 to 24 hours (not more than 24 hours).
Remove moisture.
Let battery warm to room tempature.
Put back in laptop.
Charge back up to 100%.
Drain battery to 0%.
Repeat (charge/discharge) 4 times.
